Fit Fridays

It's Fit Friday and I am going strong. Do you ever notice some weeks you want to snack more than other weeks? Do you go with the flow, refrain, or use methods to take your mind off the cravings? I do a different solution depending on how I feel. One thing I know for sure: Drink Your Water! I cannot stress this enough. I am starting to know myself better with each day and sometimes when I eat more than what I would have liked I can promise you my water intake for the day was too low. Drinking your water keeps hunger and cravings at bay, and it greatly improves digestion. Before I increased my water intake I would take an over the counter Pepcid daily. I had heartburn and other digestive issues. You will also notice your skin is glowing and the kidneys will function better. So, this weekend I challenge you to drink that water!

Happy Monday!

Do you ever feel like you need a weekend from the weekend? That was me on Sunday at about 2:30 in the afternoon. The weather was not quite what we were being spoiled with and my sleeping patterns were all over the place. I did manage to take in 21 Jump Street. The movie was a decent remake that delivered tons of laughs. It gave a different twist on high school which is likely true, but I would be clueless since I have no teenagers. The Hunger Games released this weekend bringing out several moviegoers. I have not read that series and am not interested in the film franchise. It gives me a Death Race feel, violent competition/ future society. And we cannot forget March Madness and all the games we watched. My Wildcats will be playing in NOLA this Saturday against Louisville. Is your bracket still entact?

Packin Heat and Takin no Prisoners

I am fine with the people keeping and bearing arms, but since when do we look out the window waiting to see someone suspicious so we can chase them down and kill them? George Zimmerman called 911 stating he saw young Trayvon Martin walking and "looking like he was up to no good." The operator instructed Mr. Zimmerman not to follow Trayvon, but he did and somehow this ended with Trayvon losing his life. From what I have heard I want to see charges pressed and a trial and let a jury decide this mans fate. When George Zimmerman stepped out of his home he put himself in danger. Also since when does a grown man need a gun to defend himself from a teenage boy? Send the message Florida! As Americans we are not going to tolerate this murder when you want crime spree.

Fit Friday!

Ok, anyone that knows me knows I love to workout. I love it because at my age the weight doesn't come off or stay off the way it did when I was younger! I am so happy because when I started my journey I had no idea I would throw away my scale, rarely to never drink a Coke, and be able to do burpees. I have dropped several unhealthy foods and habits, workout 5-6 days per week, and look forward to see what the future holds. When I began it was about losing x amount of pounds then I began to shift into different eating habits. Today, it's about being healthy, getting stronger, and aging well.
I picked Friday to discuss fitness on my blog because in the beginning I looked forward to the weekend so I could have my cheat day. I no longer do cheat weekends or days. Now I may do a cheat meal or snack, but I NEVER deprive myself. I found that every Monday I was trying to work off the weekend and after a full cheat day it can really make a difference in your workout performance. Now by all means if you are a beginner do your cheating as you will because you too will blossom and grow along the way.

Login Information: Your private business?

Future employers are requesting prospective employees Facebook login information. Would you be willing to hand yours over? I say why not? After all, if it's on the internet how private are you keeping things? I can also understand that some may feel a breach in their private lives. Another argument is are we now on the clock 24/7? But for some we are on the clock 24/7. I think it is the choice of an individual what you want to put out there and what you want to share in order to pay the bills. Hopefully this will remain a situation where we have the choice.

Changing our way of living

We see it everday on the news, hear about it from our co-workers and friends, what is it you ask, change! In today's society it seems like we are spinning on a merry-go-round. The mobile phone commercial that takes jabs at news being "so 27 seconds ago" is at times the way life seems. Look at the raising price of gas, and finally we are being  told the truth, we can't stop the price from raising. We need to consider how we are living. Well look at it I did! This weekend was unseasonably warm and with this warmth came ATV and motorcycle riders. When summer comes we'll see the return of boaters. This country would not be easy to run because from one area to the next Americans lifestyles are so diverse. For example, where I live people will drive an hour to shop or enjoy a favorite restaurant. In some areas this idea would be unrealistic. If we want to see a change, we need to start becoming the change we want to see.

Celebrating St. Patricks Day

Saturday March 17 will be St. Patricks Day and depending on where you live this can be a really fun holiday. You can enjoy parades, feasts ( the restrictions of Lent are lifted for this day), and a variety of traditions. One tradition we all seem to participate in is the wearing of green. Originally the color associated with Saint Patrick was blue. But with time green and its association with Saint Patrick grew. Saint Patrick is said to have used the shamrock (a three-leaved plant) to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish. If you need an online reference for a Saint Patrick Day meal you may use the following: http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Holidays-and-Events/St-Patricks-Day/Top.aspx?src=mer879 .

Kony Frenzy

I love charities and even more I love when any charity is helping someone. I have noticed Kony 2012 has gone viral, invaded our Facebook Timelines, and trends on Twitter. I attempted to give a warning concerning any donating and within five minutes a friend notified me that "it's legit it was on the Today Show." So, I thought ok sounds good to me.  If you want to donate your money to this charity I am fine with that, just make sure the money is being used for the things you desire. Last but not least please consider donating local or at least in your country. Donate to charities where you can see the results of the good you are doing.
Lastly, do not forget you are trying to help people where we do not understand their culture. People are calling upon the UN and our government to act as if we can land a plane and just get this guy. We must remember no matter how many retweets he is not going to surrender. And if he has child soldiers or anyone in his control these people are willing to kill to protect him. Yes, kill those who are supposedly coming to save them.

Warm weather: Blessing or Curse?

I love the warm weather and I love the winter weather. Who am I kidding I love living in an area where you should be able to enjoy all four seasons. We have once again experienced an extremely mild winter, so mild that I doubt my area has received three inches of snow total. For the second time this week we have cooked on our outdoor grill. I saw a wasp and yellow jacket flying today. My allergies have driven me crazy while visiting New Jersey during February and here at home in Kentucky. Now this all tells me one thing: We are going to suffer from bugs, allergens, and severe weather. You don't get weather like Friday and not see it the remainder of spring/summer. So the question is, do you feel this winter with lighter coats and low heating bills was worth it? Well, you can answer that one once you see how you truly suffer the consequences later this year!

Covington,KY dining experience

Restaurant three sixty offers a unique dining experience in which the floor revolves giving the diners a view of Cincinnati and Covington. The menu is not large but offers enough variety for all tastes. The food was delicious and the portions generous. It's not just about the food but the atmosphere. The restaurant is located on the 18th floor of the Radisson in Covington, KY. My husband treated me to this dining trip as a belated birthday gift! I was surprised and impressed; he won me over with this one. If you want to make the trip I would suggest going when they open at 5:00 because it is still daylight and you can see everything. For my next trip, I will go when it's dark so I can enjoy the lights of the city.

Let's Get Healthy!

Do you want to lose weight and are tired of feeling defeated? Well, it's time for a lifestyle change. I can touch base on some of my techniques. Everyone reading today has followed a diet for weight loss and being healthy, but first you must change your lifestyle. If you can go into your kitchen and throw out all the bad and never want those things I say go for it! But, if you're like me; baby steps are the true key.
Most important you must change your taste buds and be willing to try new things. When I first began I told myself one can of Coke per day then I went down to those tiny cans and now I don't keep it in my fridge. I gave up Ranch dressing! That and Nutella are the devil! I prefer Vinegar&Oil, but before that only used Italian, you get it step down and continue. Slowly rid yourself of pizza and anything battered. Only eat something in this category a few times per week. You must begin to move! Do this for you and no one else. Try what you enjoy that will get you off that sofa. If only three days per week, that will be your beginning.

A man’s health can be judged by which he takes two at a time – pills or stairs.” ~ Joan Welsh
